There are a lot of articles out there telling what sort of girl you should be to attract guys; equally important, however, is knowing the type of girl that guys avoid. Here I’ll lay out for you five basic types of girls that we guys avoid like the plague. Please, for all of our sakes, don’t be these girls.
Not this Catwoman... but we'd probably also avoid you if you dressed up like this... |
Part 1: The Catlady-in-Training
First on the list is the Catlady-in-training; I’m talking about the lady that owns 30 cats and only comes out of her home to buy groceries and cat food. These women are obvious to everyone else, but how can you tell if you are a catlady-in-training?
If you find yourself at a pet store staring longingly at cats, even though you are allergic to cat hair, that’s a warning sign. If you start spending all your free time curled up in a corner at home by yourself, watch out! Catladies don’t care about their appearance and generally devolve from normal women into frumpy, unkempt, anti-social hermits over a period of years, so taking care of yourself is a vital step to fight this tragic metamorphosis. Make sure you meet basic hygienic standards. And if you ever, ever find yourself recording an e-harmony video and unable to stop talking about cats, seek professional help.
Why do we care?
It’s hard to meet a catlady, because she spends most of her time at home, but when she does come out, guys avoid her because she is a little crazed. She silently slips through a room, avoiding eye contact by keeping her tangled hair down in her face, and find the darkest, furthest removed corner of the room to sit in. If you are making that much effort to avoid others, we are going to avoid you. We are also a little afraid that you might hiss at us if we try to initiate a conversation! (Also, dogs are way cooler than cats.)
Compare the Catlady to the Thinker. The Thinker is quiet, but while she is introspective, she does not mind talking to people. The Thinker does not let herself go; even if her outfits or make up aren’t in-your-face, they still show foresight and an eye towards being presentable. This lady has a tender, caring heart, and anyone who takes the time to talk to her will be blessed. Our society seems to have something against quiet people, but there is nothing wrong with being quiet as long as you don’t become a recluse.
One down, four to go! Next time we look at a highly feared and avoided type of girl; the Mother Hen.

Michael Vuke is a rambler. Talk to him for very long, and you’ll find that the conversation flows from one topic to another, anywhere from the latest movies to ancient history to spirituality—and that’s just the way he likes it. He believes you have more fun if you deviate from the original plan and wander about a bit. ReplyDeleteThanks y'all! I appreciate the encouragement, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. Catladies like that are just... scary.
ReplyDeleteI found these articles somewhat irrelevant and possibly hurtful to a girl. I was hoping for a little bit more from them. I mean really how many guys do you have to ask to find out catladies are scary?
ReplyDeleteOk, thanks for your thoughts. You said what you did not like about this series, but could you expand upon more of what you were hoping for so maybe we can incorporate that in the future?
DeleteAlso, Michael can answer this himself, but I think it is clear that his intent was far from trying to hurt. The tone is pretty light-hearted and in every article he tried to provided a contrast and offer some encouragement.
Dear Anon, thank you for the feedback. As stated above, hurting y'all (presuming you are a female here, no offense if you aren't) is not something I am trying to do. My approach with this series was to make a few points about what sort of qualities attract and repel guys, using exaggerated stereotypes and humor to reveal what I meant.
Delete"How many guys do you have to ask to find out that catladies are scary?"
That's just it--these are common stereotypes, which is why I wrote this. I've found that a lot of people (guys included) have certain traits or habits that we aren't even fully aware of, and seeing what many consider to be obvious be pointed out can make us aware of those traits in us. At least, that's how it works with me a lot of times.
And finally, I've never written to a primarily female audience like this before, so this is a learning experience. I really would like to know what sorts of things you were hoping for? I can't guarantee that they would show up, but it would help me write stuff that can help you--that is why I'm here :)
*Phew* that's a long comment.
I for one liked it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it was obvious that it was meant to be humorous not hurtful. I thought it was funny.
DeleteI'm a girl and I wasn't "hurt" by it! I see where it was meant to be funny and I laughed! ( girls love to laugh!) Although I can say that I personally thought this was going to be a question and answer kind of thing...not quite telling us what guys think is creepy:) I enjoyed them very much:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Logan! There will be some posts coming that are going to fit what you were thinking a little better. They won't be "advice column"-styled Q&A, but I am going to be talking about topics that some ladies have asked about. Are there any topics or issues that you'd be interested in hearing a guy's perspective on?
DeleteWhat's up to all, the contents existing at this site are actually amazing for people knowledge, well, keep up the good work fellows.

I though the article entertaining, l have one cat and can see why some ladies give up on life or should l say the opposite sex and have 30+ cats living quite contently. Happy days!
